Trap Sets
Trap Set: If you are having an issue with stray dogs/cats and need a trap set on location to catch the animals, the property owner MUST come to the shelter and fill out a trap request form. A valid picture ID must be shown. Once this form is filled out, one of our Officers will come set a trap in the best location for capture. Traps may or may not be left overnight and will never be left over the weekend or holidays. These traps are set for domestic animals only (dogs/cats). The property owner is fully responsible for our trap when they are on location. All owner animals MUST be confined to prevent them from being caught in our trap and be up to date on rabies vaccine. Traps that are tampered with will be pulled immediately and will not be reset. We do not pick up owner animals. Owner animals must be surrender to the shelter during business hours.
Below is an example of the trap request form:
I am reporting a problem with a domestic animal.
I am aware that any information may be used in court.
A trap may be set on my property and if so, I am fully responsible for it. I will be responsible for any damages to the trap and I am aware that it could result in prosecution for tampering and/or destruction of Government property. If trap is tampered with, the Sandersville Animal Control has the right to pull the trap and trap may not be reset.
If I am feeding a stray animal that is on my property, I will stop feeding immediately. If I continue to feed while a trap is set on my property, the Sandersville Animal Control has the right not to set a trap or remove the trap that is on my property. Trap may not be reset.
I hereby authorize that all information is correct and that I am the property owner in which the trap will be set on.
All owner animals must be confined to prevent them from being caught in our trap.
All animals must have current rabies shots that are on the owner’s property.
In consideration for the City of Sandersville (hereafter “City”) setting a trap for a domestic animal at the address set forth below, located in Washington County, Georgia, at no cost to the owner, the property owner agrees to permit a trap being set and to indemnify and hold harmless the City, their agents and their employees, from any and all costs, charges, claims, demands, losses, damages, causes of action, suits and liabilities of any kind, including the expenses of litigation, court costs and attorney’s fees made by the owner for injuries to, or the death or illness of any person, or for damage to any property, arising out of or in connection with a trap being set on the property and removal of a domestic animal, regardless of whether injuries, illness, death, damages are reasonably foreseeable or reasonably within the contemplation of the parties to this agreement.
You must agree to the above terms, sign the form at the shelter, and present a valid ID before trap will be set.

This is the type trap we use to catch stray animals. These traps do not harm an animal when being caught. We bait them with food.
